What is Podiatric Medicine?
Podiatric Medicine is a field of medicine that strives to improve the overall health and well-being of patients by focusing on preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions associated with the foot and ankle. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs) are the only physicians and surgeons who exclusively train and specialize in treating the foot and ankle. Podiatrists are licensed in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico to diagnose and treat the foot and its related or governing structures by medical, surgical, or biomechanical means. Tamper Resistant Prescription Paper Requirement
Update
On Saturday, September 29, 2007, President George W. Bush signed the
"Extenders Law," delaying the implementation date for all paper Medicaid
prescriptions to be written on tamper-resistant paper.
Under the new law, all written Medicaid prescriptions must be on
tamper-resistant prescription pads as of April 1, 2008. Implementation
will also be delayed until April 1, 2008 by West Virginia Medicaid.
CMS will issue additional guidance on the implementation of
the new requirement. Further information from CMS regarding
this matter will be posted on the BMS website as it becomes available.
